Black Consciousness is a profound understanding of the Black experience. This understanding is
rooted in a clear conception of African history and African Culture. These are the foundation of
Black Consciousness. Black Consciousness is a type of consciousness unlike consciousness perse.
Black Consciousness is not just awareness. Black Consciousness is not just a cognitive function.
Black Consciousness is more than an intellectual activity, and Black Consciousness entails more
than a basic recognition of Black skin. Black Consciousness implies an acute awareness of Black
identity and an active awareness of the Black worldview, in relation to a hostile socio-politico
climate. Therefore, Black consciousness perceives, apprehends, and articulates the social,
political, and economic plight of Black people.Black consciousness is a panoramic view of the Black experience laced with a proactive
inclination. Black Consciousness calls into question the total white power structure. Black
Conscious is an ongoing critique of the white power structure. It examines the white power
structure’s interaction with Black people, and simultaneously examines Black people’s response
to the white power structure. Black Consciousness underscores the exploitive, oppressive, and
racist nature of the white power structure. Black Consciousness challenges the racists notions,
stereotypes and stigmas crafted by the white power structure to maintain white exploitation and
oppression of Black people. Black Consciousness rejects the false narrative of white superiority
and Black inferiority; thereby, standing in contradistinction to the historical distortions and falsities
propagated by the white power structure. In this sense, Black Consciousness is proactive and offensive. It is both an intentional act of Black praise and action against White lies.In addition, Black Consciousness is purposeful and progressive. Purposeful in the sense that it
recues Black Heritage from the clutches of white suppression. It’s progressive in the sense that
it’s a reappraisal of Black Heritage and the Black historical experience. Black Consciousness
repositions Black Heritage and re-centers the Black historical experience (within the lives of Black
people). Black Conscious articulates a new assessment of Black life; it assigns new value to what
it means to be Black. Black Consciousness elevates Blackness to its rightful place of dignity and
nobility. By doing so, permanently erasing the negative and disparaging ideas that have come to
be associated with Blackness. Black Consciousness is an intentional act of redeeming and
restoring the glory of Black people.Lastly, Black Consciousness is a social orientation, psychological disposition, and spiritual
frequency. It’s state of Black beingness. Black Consciousness is a unique sensation, an attunement
with the Black experience. Black Consciousness refers to the total person. Black Consciousness
is a sentiment and a sensibility. Black Consciousness is a feeling, an attitude towards life. Black
Consciousness is an overall behavior. It reflects thinking and behaving (from a Black perspective)
to advance Black people. In this regard, Black consciousness is political, in that, Black
Consciousness is about advancing the social, political, and economic interest of Black people, in
defense of Black life. Black Consciousness is a total awareness of preserving the Black family,
the Black community, and Black people. -
Well articulated. I add that awareness must be accompanied by relentless effort to organize ourselves in our respective communities to take over our community. This means we have to MEET, MEET, and MEET. Every one of our movements required constant meeting to organize and implement plans of how to bring about whatever we thought was necessary at the time. We only get shown the glory and the results. Our foremothers and forefathers spent enormous amounts of time on a weekly basis meeting to make stuff happen.
Black Man – if you spend more time watching sports than you do meeting with men to plan how to take over our community, then you are derelict in your duty as a man. Manhood goes beyond going to work and paying the bills. We have an affirmative responsibility to forge peaceful, prosperous and Black empowered communities for our women and children just like we see other men doing for their women and children. Moreover, we have the responsibility to collectively train on an ongoing basis so that we are prepared to PROTECT our community. This is a collective responsibility. Not the myopic defend your house if an intruder breaks in. Too many of us don’t live with our children to protect them should that happen where our children are.
We have become more interested in children games than men’s collective duties and responsibilities. Then we have the nerve to criticize our warrior aged young men for acting misguided. You say, they don’t listen. Do YOU expect them to listen to a “man” who spends more time watching games than planning and training for community defense with other men?
Men – if WE are not organizing OUR businesses in our local communities to meet our local collective needs and collectively training continuously in our local communities to defend our communities, then WE ain’t conscious. We’re just as sleep as those who know no history or heritage; as those who gang bangin; as those who believe that we are in a post-racial era, and that we all have the same opportunities; as those who think we ain’t from Afrika; as those who think other women want you and will respect and love you more than Black Women.
When we handle our bizness, we will have the respect of our women. We never lost the love of our women. We playa playa play with our women like boys instead of taking responsibility for our women like men. Men, stop trying to sex women you don’t respect enough to take responsibility for and that you don’t want to raise your children. That’s little boy, decadent caveman behavior. These are OUR Black Women – our mothers, sisters and daughters. We need to flip how we treating them and watch how they flip in respecting US.
Black Man, If you’re reading this, you likely consider yourself conscious. I challenge you to spend more time getting other Black Men together in your communitiy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to plan how to 1. Collectively organize and train continuously to defend your Black community; 2. Plan how y’all will organize the businesses in your community to put the foreign invaders out of business in your community. Or die in the attempt.
Do that and watch the most spiritually powerful people on the Earth, BLACK WOMEN, jump into action to make it happen.
RACE FIRST unto BLACK POWER✊🏿
